Mermaid M12 Cool & Electric Heating Marine A/C Unit – 12,000 BTU’s – 110V Details:

With a cooling capacity of 1000 cubic feet, the Mermaid M12 marine A/C unit is designed to cool / heat up to a 32′ cruiser or a 34′ sailboat. Mermaid units pack the perfect punch of cool, comfortable air to keep your cabin temperate.

Mermaid uses 4″ ducting and recommends a minimum of 2, 4″ round supply grills with this installation. This unit will run off the new Honda eu1000i 1,000 watt portable generator, while in cool mode. Another option is to use a Statpower 1,000 Watt Inverter and 450 amp hours of battery power and you can anchor out (on average) for one night. This unit is available in right, left or top air discharge configurations.

All M12 models include a digital thermostat, an insulation mounting pad, and an air output collar. Pump not included.

With Electric Heating Function

When the electric heating feature is activated on your Mermaid A/C unit, a radiant heat strip placed in the evaporator shroud heats up and the fan blows 5,680 BTUs of hot air into the cabin. Neither the compressor nor the water pump is required for this. This means the electric heating feature can be run even while the boat is out of the water.

Take note though, electric heat mode draws more power than reverse cycle heating (10 extra amps).

Digital Control/Thermostat Options (Included w/ Unit) – Select Programmable or Non-Programmable

Programmable Thermostat
Mermaid’s standard Digital Programmable Thermostat. Designed to be used with any Mermaid unit.

Programmable features allow for weekday and weekend setting for those boater’s who care to use the unit for dehumidification or simply climate control while not on board. The thermostat is also accompanied with 20 feet of four-wire thermostat cable and installation instructions.

Non-Programmable Thermostat
As an alternative to the standard Digital Programmable Thermostat, Mermaid offers a simple Non-Programmable Thermostat that can be mounted vertically or horizontally. It is ideal for applications where programming features will not be necessary.

Simply turn the unit to HEAT or COOL, set the fan to AUTO (comes on with the unit) or ON (continuous duty), and set your desired temperature – and that’s it! The thermostat will now maintain that set temperature until you turn it off or change the temperature. Again, this item is ideal for folks looking for a simple controller and a slimmer wall mount design. This can be a FREE alternative to your Programmable Thermostat upon purchase of any Mermaid Air System.
